(06/225) Civilian Died in Ağrı…

Mevlüt Bengi, who was kidnapped by anonymous people in Çiftlik village of Ağrı’s Doğubayazıt district on June 24, 2018; is found dead and tied up to a lightning pole near Yangınyurt village in the same district on June 27, 2018. It is claimed in the news reports that a note near Mevlüt Bengi, signed as PKK was found by the villagers.

(06/226) Civilian Died in Ağrı…

Feyzi Ertik, a cleaning employee of Yaşar Eryılmaz Public Hospital in Ağrı, is found dead and hung up to a rope in the kitchen of his house yard on June 27, 2018. Ağrı Governorate made a declaration the same day and stated as following: “According to all investigations, considerations of evidence and the autopsy report, it is detected that Feyzi Ertik suicided by hanging himself. The news reporting that this person has supported AK Party and thus executed by the Separatist Terrorist Organisation, are completely unreal”.

(06/227) HDP Co-Chair Being Threatened by The Minister of Interior…

It is claimed in news coverage of June 27, 2018 that Süleyman Soylu, the Minister of Interior called HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan, upon death of 2 civilians in Ağrı’s Doğubayazıt district, one of which was detected as suicide by Ağrı Governorate; and said the following: “We will bring you into line. No more right to live for you. You will account for this. You could go wherever you like, whether to CHP or to Europe, we will carry this on.”

(06/228) Person Subjected to Police Violence in Istanbul…

It is learned from news coverage of June 27, 2018 that a person named Halil Koluman was subjected to physical violence by the police on June 16, 2018. Halil Koluman stated following in the news report: “My car broke down on the road. Police came to me while I was fixing it. They checked my criminal record and nothing came up. Then they searched my car. They wanted me to open the trunk. I told them the trunk was broken and I cannot open it. They asked me ‘Are you hiding something?’ because I could not open the trunk. I gave them the car keys. Then one officer tried to break the back seats. I reacted them saying ‘Why are you doing this? Do you have right to do so?’. And the officer answered as ‘Shut up, I will break and you will fix’, and he took his pepper spray and hit me with his head.”

It is stated in the news report that, Halil Koluman’s car was stopped once again by the police, while he was on his way to Merter Police Station for an official complaint and he was again subjected to police violence along with his 2 relatives.

It is reported that Halil Koluman has a medical report evidencing the violence he was subjected to and he made an official complaint against police officers on charge.

(06/229) Police Violence on Video Footage in Ankara…

Police camera recording of the physical violence against Nazan Bozkurt, by the police intervening “I Want My Job Back” protest in Yüksel Street, is covered by the news reports on June 27, 2018. It could be seen in the video footage that Nazan Bozkurt was dragged to the police vehicle and was punched, and that a police officer saying “Buddy, you would delete this”.

(06/230) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned that 1 soldier and 1 village guard died, and 4 soldiers were wounded in a clash during a military operation in rural areas of Çağlayancerit district of Maraş on June 27, 2018.

(06/231) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 27, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on June 27, 2018, 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Mahmut Konuk) were detained. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(06/232) HDP Members Detained in Urfa…

8 members of HDP are detained in house raids in Suruç district of Urfa are detained on June 27, 2018. The names of detainees are: Selami Altay, Reşat Yıldız, Mustafa Emek, Ziya Kaplan, Hacı Dinçer, Abdulkadir Baz, Avni Gökkan and Musa Timuçin.

(06/233) People Arrested for ‘Insulting the President’ in Izmir…

5 of 15 people, who were detained on the grounds that they insulted the President in an entertainment venue where they gather before the meeting of CHP’s Presidency candidate Muharrem İnce in Izmir, are arrested by the court on June 27, 2018. The number of arrestees raised up to 12 through this investigation. 3 people (2 on juridical control conditions) are released.

On June 27, 2018, a person named C. D. E. is detained for ‘insulting the President’ in social media posts, in Keşan district of Edirne.

Orhan Kınık, who was detained for making propaganda for an illegal organisation on social media posts, is arrested by the court on June 27, 2018.

(06/236) HDP Members on Trial in Istanbul…

The case against 29 members and executives of HDP and HDK, including 18 arrestees, on Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 28 is held on June 27, and 28, 2018. After defence hearings the court released 9 people (HDP Party Assembly member Celalettin Can, Abdukselam Yolcu, Erhan Sarıkaya, Vahit Dalgıç, Filiz Yılmaz, Gonca Yangöz, M. Şamil Altan, Nevzat Yılmaz and Taylan Talaş) on juridical control conditions and decided to continue detention for 9 people (Atilla Şayir, Bedia Aydemir, Can Memiş, Gülistan Aydın, Gülsen Biter, Hasan Hüseyin Gençer, Metin İlan, Suphi Yıldız and Taylan Urun).

(06/237) Trade Union Members on Trial in Izmir…

The final trial of the case against 24 teachers from Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESK), for attending “We Will Defend Peace Against War” strike organized by KESK, Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK), and Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) on December 29, 2015, on Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2 is held on June 27, 2018. The court acquitted 23 teachers stating that “there is no grounds for the crime”. The court sentenced Sabri Tül to 1 year for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and converted the sentence to fine of 6000 Turkish Liras.

(06/238) Journalists on Trial in Istanbul…

The case against reporter Mehmet Baransu and managing editor Murat Şevki Çoban, from Taraf newspaper which was closed down by the state of emergency decree, for the news report titled as “The Decision to Finish Gülen was Taken in National Security Council”, on Istanbul Anadolu Heavy Penal Court No 10 is held on June 27, 2018. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to October 17, 2018.

(06/239) Elections on June 24, 2018…

Tacettin Başar, owner of Hermel Arthouse and HDP member Bayram Ektiren, who were detained through an investigation against artists supporting HDP’s electoral campaign and members and executives of HDP, on June 26, 2018, are released by the court on juridical control conditions on June 27, 2018. It is learned that artist İmran Akın was also detained through the same investigation on June 27, 2018 and was released after statement procedures. Thus, the number of detainees through this investigation is 17 and all detainees are released.

It is learned from news coverage of June 26, 2018 that village guards attacked villagers celebrating the election results of HDP in Ezdinan village of Van’s Çatak district and 1 villager named Özcan Akbulak was wounded seriously. It is also reported that Özcan Akbulak made an official complaint against the village guards.

(06/240) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On June 27, 2018, Mustafa Mendeş, former governor deputy of Mardin; 1 military member on active duty in Sinop, Ahmet Özkan, sub-governor of Hasköy district of Muş; Muhammet Kaya, governor deputy of Kilis are detained.

On June 27, 2018, a detention warrant is issued for 22 military members including 2 majors and 4 lieutenants through a Balıkesir based investigation. It is reported that operations covering 13 cities are initiated.

On June 27, 2018, a detention warrant is issued for 71 military members including 43 military members on active duty through a Kocaeli based investigation. It is reported that operations covering 16 cities are initiated.

(06/241) Journalists on Trial in Istanbul…

Penal Department No 2 of Istanbul Regional Court, judged the request of appeal to heavy life sentences given by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 26 for 6 journalists including Mehmet Altan, Ahmet Altan and Nazlı Ilıcak; and released Mehmet Altan. It is learned that Penal Department No 2 decided to release Mehmet Altan based on the of the Constitutional Court’s decision on violating individual freedom and security.

(06/242) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against 2 people (Muhammet Yalçın and Habibe Kılıç) on Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 2 is held on June 27, 2018. The court sentenced Muhammet Yalçın to 6 years and 3 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and Habibe Kılıç to 2 years and 1 month for ‘aiding an illegal organisation’.
