It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2018 that 2 HPG militants died in an air strike of Turkish Air Force to Qandil area on November 11, 2018.

It is claimed in the news coverage of November 19, 2018 that during ward searches, the wardens in Van F Type Prison seized the blood glucose meter of Ruşen Tutku, a diabetic prisoner.

(11/236) Indefinite Hunger Strike in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 19, 2018 that Kadir Karabak and Esat Naci Yıldırım from Van F Type Prison are on indefinite hunger strike for 65 days to protest right violations in prison.

(11/237) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 740 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 19, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on November 19, 2018, 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 4 people (Acun Karadağ, Gülnaz Bozkurt, İlker Işık and Nazan Bozkurt) were detained.

Thus in total 6 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on November 19, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(11/238) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the protestors in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on November 19, 2018, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained Mahmut Konuk. It is learned that 2 people were released the same day.

(11/240) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Istanbul…

Türkan Albayrak, who was dismissed from her job at Sarıyer district Health Department, on the grounds of ‘personnel security investigation’ and ‘archive search’, on August 3, 2018; made a press declaration to regain her job on November 19, 2018 and attempted for a sit-in protest in front of Health Department. The police intervened the sit-in and detained Türkan Albayrak. It is learned that Türkan Albayrak was released the same day. It is the 47th time of detention of Türkan Albayrak.

(11/241) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the protestors at Bakırköy Square on November 19, 2018, who sit-in to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat) using physical violence.

Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat are released on judicial control conditions after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office on November 20, 2018.

Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat, who has been detained several times for these protests, were released by the court on August 8, 2018 with a ban from getting closer to Bakırköy Square less than 200 meters. Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat keep having their protests later on and were arrested 2 times, once on August 21, 2018 and lastly on October 31, 2018.

(11/242) Abdullah Cömert Case…

The final trial of the case against police officer Ahmet Kuş, for Abdullah Cömert’s (22) death, is held on November 19, 2018 on Balıkesir Heavy Penal Court No 2. Abdullah Cömert died due to being hit by a gas bomb shell at the head, during a protest in Hatay on June 3, 2018 while Gezi Park protests were continuing over the country. The court sentenced police officer Ahmet Kuş to 6 years 10 months and 15 days for ‘killing on conscious negligence’. The court did not ruled detention of the defendant according to the verdict.

The sentence of 13 years and 4 months given to Ahmet Kuş by Balıkesir Heavy Penal Court No 2 for ‘intentional injury resulting in death’ was reversed by Penal Department No 1 of the Supreme Court.

(11/243) People on Trial in Balıkesir for Organising a Commemoration Event for Deniz Gezmiş and Others…

The final trial of the case against 30 people, on the grounds of an event organized in Ayvalık district of Balıkesir, to commemorate Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan and Hüseyin İnan who were executed on May 6, 1972; is held on November 19, 2018 on Ayvalık Penal Court of First Instance. The court acquitted all 30 people which includes Ahmet Toker, former district chair of Republican People’s Party (CHP); Ahmet Üzgeç, district chair of Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD); Cemil Tosunoğlu, Balıkesir chair of Labour PArty (EMEP); Ömer Arslan, former district chair of EMEP; Kemal Gözüyaşlı, district chair of Freedom and Solidarity PArty (ÖDP); Vedat Tekten, Pir Sultan Association chair.

(11/244) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

18 people are detained in operations covering 6 cities through an Ankara based investigation on the personnel of Ministry of Health on November 19, 2018.

(11/245) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against 71 people on Zonguldak Heavy Penal Court No 2 is held on November 19, 2018. The court sentenced 57 defendants to jail penalties for a term of 2 years and 1 month to 7 years and 6 months for ‘aiding and abetting an illegal organisation’. The court acquitted 14 people.

(11/246) Investigated Social Media Accounts…

The Ministry of Interior made a declaration on November 19, 2018 and announced that 324 social media accounts were investigated between November 12 and November 19, 2018; and legal proceedings have been initiated against 280 people within this week.

(11/247) Children Died in Labor Killings…

Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) made a declaration on November 20, 2018, on Universal Children’s Day and revealed that at least 62 children died due to labor killings/labor accidents while working within the first 10 months of the year.
