(04/001) Student who was Subjected to Physical Violence Because of Listening to Kurdish Music…

It is claimed on news coverage of April 1, 2018 that a student of İbn-i Sina Vocational High school in Kızıltepe district of Mardin was beaten by deputy principal İ.K. first in front of other students and then in his room because of listening to Kurdish music. Another student who claimed to witness the scene said in his declaration to the press: “He walked up to him immediately when he noticed that it was Kurdish regardless of what he was listening. Firstly, he beat him in front of us. He has done this to many other students before. He also threatens us to do the same thing in case he saw us talking about it.”

(04/002) Military Operation to Afrin …

On April 1, 2018, due to a blast during the passage of a military vehicle 1 civilian personnel died and 3 soldiers were injured.

(04/003) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned that 6 village guards have died, 3 village guards and 4 soldiers have been injured as a result of an attack to a military base area near Ormanardı village of Siirt centre on March 30, 2018. It is reported that 1 of the injured soldiers died in hospital on April 1, 2018.

(04/004) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on April 1, 2018 at 18.00. During police intervention 3 people (Mehmet Dersulu, Alev Şahin and Nazan Bozkurt) were detained. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(04/005) Halkevleri (Community Houses) Branches Closed Down in Ankara…

Ankara Governorate closed Batıkent, Seyran Umut and Keçiören branches of Halkevleri and Ethem Sarısülük Library in Mamak with a seal for “unauthorized educational activity” on April 1, 2018. The police intervened into Halkevleri members who protest closing down of the branches in front of Seyran Umut branch and detained 4 people including Halkevleri central executive board member Nebiye Merttürk.

(04/006) Intervention into Kızıldere Commemoration in İstanbul…

The police intervened into the commemoration attempt of Kurtuluş Party members for Kızıldere massacre, in Kadıköy district of İstanbul on April 1, 2018 and detained 12 people.
