(06/158) Person Detained for the Incidents Where 4 People Died During Electoral Campaigns in Suruç…

Mehmet Şenyaşar, who was injured in incidents happened after a quarrel between AKP MP candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız and shopkeepers, that resulted in death of 4 people and injury of 9 people, is detained upon the instruction of the prosecutor’s office on June 18, 2018, after being discharged from the hospital. Mehmet Şenyaşar is released the same day after procedures at the prosecutor’s office.

Mehmet Yıldız, İbrahim Yıldız’s brother, Esvet Şenyaşar, and his 2 sons, Celal Şenyaşar and Adil Şenyaşar died in the incidents. Esvet Şenyaşar’s son Ferit Şenyaşar is still in intensive care. It is learned that the police do not allow anybody including hospital attendants into Ferit Şenyaşar’s room.

It is learned from news coverage of June 18, 2017 that lawyer Naim Eminoğlu, who was detained through an operation against People’s Law Office and was sent to Burhaniye Prison, is prohibited from visitors for 100 months.

(06/160) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 18, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on June 18, 2018, 3 people (Selvi Polat, Mehmet Dersulu and Deniz Yılmaz) and at 18.00 3 people (Acun Karadağ, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Deniz Yılmaz) were detained.

Thus in total 6 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on June 18, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(06/161) People Detained in Adana…

On June 18, 2018, 17 people, including HDP members, are detained in house raids in Adana, on the grounds that they ‘engage in activities on behalf of an illegal organisation’. The names of detainees known so far are: İlyas Arzu, Devrim Özlü, Devran Özlü, Jiyan Savcı, Şirda Erol.

(06/162) Elections on June 24, 2018…

On June 18, 2018, the campaign office of SP (Felicity Party) on Saraçlar Street in Edirne is assaulted by anonymous people. It is learned that the assault resulted in no casualty yet material damage.

On June 18, 2018, 6 members of HDP Youth Assembly are detained in house raids in Ankara. 6 people are released the same day after statement procedures at the police. The names of detainees are: Ümit Tamur, Caner Aynas, Enes Dağ, Ahmet Hasan Çiftçi, Yahya Dağ, Melih (unknown surname).

On June 18, 2018, 5 members of balloting committee on behalf of HDP are detained in house raids in Çelikhan district of Adıyaman. The names of detainees are: Sabri Sel, Ali Calgan, Mahmut Albayrak, Zeynel Yıldız ve Ali Dağdeviren. It is reported that the detainees are taken to Gendarmerie Command in Çelikhan.

On June 18, 2018, the police used physical violence against and detained 9 people hanging HDP banners in Gazi neighbourhood of Istanbul. It is learned that 9 people were taken to the police station and were released after being imposed fine of 259 Turkish liras per person according to the Law of Misdemeanour.

It is learned from news coverage of June 18, 2018 that, before President Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Van, HDP flags around the city are taken off by the fire service upon instruction of the trustee of municipality which was appointed by the Ministry of Interior.

(06/163) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against Gökhan Nas, former employee of TUBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) who was dismissed by the state of emergency decree, on Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 24 is held on June 18, 2018. The court sentenced Gökhan Nas to 8 years and 9 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
