(06/135) Person Died Due to Being Hit by Police Armoured Vehicle in Tunceli…

It is learned that a person named Ali Sezer (92) died due to being hit by an Akrep type police armoured vehicle in Tunceli on June 13, 2018.

It is learned from news coverage of June 13, 2018 that, 2 militants died in an attack of HPG militants to a military base in rural areas of Diyarbakır’s Lice district on 9 Jun, 2018.

(06/137) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 13, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on June 13, 2018, 2 people (Selvi Polat and Mahmut Konuk) and at 18.00 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Selvi Polat) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on June 13, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

On June 13, 2018, HDP council member Şehriban Zuğurli, HDP members Şahin Bardakçı and Şilan (unknown surname) are detained in house raids in Ankara. It is reported that 3 detainees were released the same day after procedures at the police.

On June 13, 2018, Sinan Deniz, Revolutionary Party Chair of Izmir, is detained in house raids for social media posts.

(06/140) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The case against Çağrı Sarı, former managing editor of Evrensel newspaper, for the news reports on “Paradise Papers” is held on June 13, 2018. The case was opened upon the official complaint of Berat Albayrak, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and his brother Serhat Albayrak. The court adjourned the trial to September 25, 2018.

(06/141) Journalists on Trial in Istanbul…

It is learned from news coverage of June 13, 2018 that, journalists Nagehan Alçı, Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı and Ümit Zileli who were on trial for their expressions about Esat Oktay Yıldıran, who was the administrator of Diyarbakır Prison after 1980 coup, are sentenced to 105 days of jail penalty by İzmir Penal Court of First Instance No 2, for insulting in the memory of Esat Oktay Yıldıran. According to the news report, the court states in the justified decision that, torture in Diyarbakır Prison between 1980 and 1982 is not a proven truth, thus calling Esat Oktay Yıldıran, who owns commendation medals of Presidency and Turkish Armed Forces, “torturer” is an extrajudicial act.

The individual application to the Constitutional Court made on May 29, 2018 by Selahattin Demirtaş, HDP Istanbul MP and HDP’s candidate for Presidency, for being released is rejected.

(06/143) Elections on June 24, 2018…

It is learned that coordination center of CHP (Republican People’s Party) in Konya was assaulted by a group alleged to be AKP (Justice and Development Party) youth section members. It is learned that 3 are slightly injured and the center was materially damaged due to attack.

It is learned from news coverage of June 13, 2018 that Bayram Özçelik, AKP’s MP candidate for Burdur, have visited CHP office, discussed with a CHP member and jumped down this person’s throat.

On June 13, 2018, two video recordings alleged to cover President Tayyip Erdoğan, are shared on social media platforms. According to the video footage, Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking in a closed door meeting says “Our party should carry out a very different style of work. I would not talk on it outside. You will take the voter list, and check who they are. I believe that if you work on it this will bring a very different result”. And in the second recording, Tayyip Erdoğan says the following: “The observers of ballots, we need to support the ballot committees with the observers. Just in case, when there is an absent committee member, the chair of the ballot committee will replace it with the observers, the ones who arrive earlier. Thus, we will dominate the ballot committees this way. We should be very careful about this. We cannot underestimate this. We have experienced this many times before. If we guarantee this, then we close the deal in Istanbul even before it begins”.

It is learned from news coverage of June 13, 2018 that, despite the decision of Bağlar district electoral board in order to take off the posters of President Tayyip Erdoğan on lightning poles in Diyarbakır, the posters are still on the poles. It is reported that the institutions that do not abide by the decision will be officially reported.

 

(06/144) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On June 13, 2018, 31 people in operations covering 12 cities through an Izmir based investigation, 4 people alleged to flee Greece illegally in Edirne, and 8 people in Antalya are detained.

Mustafa Aygün, deputy police chief of Eskişehir, who was detained in Ankara on June 9, 2018, is arrested by the court on June 13, 2018.

9 of 20 people who were detained through an Izmir based investigation are arrested by the court on June 13, 2018. 10 people are released on juridical control conditions, and 1 people is released.

(06/145) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against İbrahim Ethem Kazak, former sub-governor of Akkışla who was dismissed by the state of emergency decree, on Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 16 is held on June 13, 2018. The court sentenced İbrahim Ethem Kazak to 7 years and 6 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

The final trial of the case against a person named Murat Kayhan, on the grounds of being ‘confidential imam of İncirlik military base’, on Adana Heavy Penal Court No 11 is held on June 13, 2018. The court sentenced Murat Kayhan to 9 years and 9 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
