It is learned from news coverage of August 10, 2018 that 2 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Gürpınar district of Van on August 7, 2018.
(08/094) The Football Match Spectator Being Subjected to Police Violence…
It is learned from news coverage of August 12, 2018 that, 1 of Bursaspor club fans were subjected to police violence during the match between Fenerbahçe club and Bursaspor club in Istanbul on August 11, 2018. It could be seen in the video footage covered by press that 1 police officer punches this person first, and then kicks him at the head and the person collapses due to violence. Istanbul Police Directorate made a declaration and stated that the police officer is suspended and judicial and administrative investigation is initiated.

It is learned from news coverage of August 10, 2018 that prisoners in Tekirdağ Prison No 2, are imposed to penalties of prevention from visits and communication rights for long periods up to years, and solitary confinement because of protesting violations of rights.
It is learned from news coverage of August 12, 2018 that, 3 prisoners (Sedat Ödümlü, Dildar Oruk and Orhan Çelik) who has been transferred to Urfa T Type Prison No 2 from Bitlis E Type Prison because of rejecting military order during roll-calls, were subjected to physical and verbal violence by the wardens once again for the same reason in Urfa T Type Prison No 2.

It is learned that the appeal made on August 10, 2018 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s sister and brother along with the families of Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysel Aktaş in order to visit, was rejected the same day on the grounds of limitations for prisoners in accordance with the Law on the Execution of Criminal and Security Measures Number 5275. With the last rejection, it was the 88th time that appeals for visiting Öcalan have been rejected since September 11, 2016

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on August 10, 11, and 12, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.
It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on August 10, 2018, 2 people (Alev Şahin and Gülnaz Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Alev Şahin) were detained.
It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on August 11, 2018, 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Alev Şahin) were detained.
It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on August 12, 2018, 3 people (Alev Şahin, Engin Karataş, Mehmet Dersulu) and at 18.00 3 people (Mehmet Dersulu, Engin Karataş, Alev Şahin) were detained.
Thus in total 12 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on August 10, 11 and 12, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

Haydar Yüksel, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Çukurova district co-chair is detained in Edirne on August 12, 2018. It is learned that Haydar Yüksel is taken to Edirne Police Headquarters however, the reason for detention is unknown.

Ruken Demir, reporter of Mezopotamya News Agency who was detained on August 7, 2018 in Diyarbakır, is released by the court on juridical control conditions on August 10, 2018.
(08/100) METU Students Detained for ‘Insulting the President’…
Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 8, released 4 students of Middle East Technical University students who has been arrested on July 11, 2018, for carrying a banner containing “The Kingdom of Tayyips” cartoon at graduation ceremony. It is learned from news coverage that, the court stated that the evidence is collected and possible attempts of 4 students to escape could be prohibited by juridical control conditions.

The case against Kemal Özer, reporter of Evrensel newspaper, on Tunceli Heavy Penal Court No 1, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ is held on August 11, 2018. After defence hearings the court decided to continue detention for Kemal Özer and adjourned the trial to October 24, 2018.
Journalist Kemal Özer has been detained on September 4, 2017 in Tunceli, and has been arrested on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on September 15, 2017.
(08/102) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…
On August 10, 2018, 11 people in operations covering 5 cities through an Ankara based investigation; and 2 people in Edirne in alleged attempt to illegally flee to Greece are detained.
İdris Yurteri, the owner of Private Akıllı Schools, is arrested by the court on August 10, 2018. 13 managers and teachers of the school have been detained through the investigation. 12 of detainees are released on juridical control conditions.
1 former military member, dismissed by a state of emergency decree, who was detained in Edirne in alleged attempt to illegally flee to Greece, is arrested by the court on August 10, 2018.

(08/103) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…
The final trial of the case against former police chief İrfan Kayaönü, on the grounds that he was personal security guard of Fetullah Gülen, on Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2, is held on August 10, 2018. The court sentenced İrfan Kayaönü to 8 years and 1 month for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
